I'm still amazed that he's out there starting in the NFL so soon after that injury, pretty miraculous. Made a huge play vs the Chargers picking off Rivers, loved that.
My guy Ansah is tearing it up already but corners take longer to develop. I do think Hayden has special talent and was my #1 CB in the draft, kid has some ballhawk traits and obviously great feet and speed.
For Lions' Ezekiel Ansah, ignorance is bliss as he endures murderers' row of left tackles 0a462327d86cca203e0f6a7067006575.jpg Rookie defensive end Ezekiel Ansah has been a revelation for the Detroit Lions this season, but will have another still challenge Sunday against Joe Thomas and the Browns. ALLEN PARK -- Ezekiel Ansah opened his pro career by drawing three-time Pro Bowler D'Brickashaw Ferguson of the New York Jets in a preseason game.
He's faced a murderers' row of left tackles ever since.
The Detroit Lions rookie defensive end opened the regular season against Minnesota's Matt Kalil, faced Washington's Trent Williams in Week 3 and Chicago's Jermon Bushrod in Week 4. All three were Pro Bowlers last season. 3081e644d907cc203e0f6a706700f4ee.jpgDetroit's Ezekiel Ansah has been disruptive this season, including getting a hand on this pass from Chicago's Jay Cutler.Associated Press
Now Ansah will mix it up Sunday against the Cleveland Browns (3-2) and their star left tackle Joe Thomas, who has made each of the past six Pro Bowls.
But one thing going for Ansah: He has no idea who Thomas is.
"I don't think he's aware of anything," Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham said.
"I don't think he knows the names. The coaches go through it, but he has no idea the magnitude of some of the guys' ability at left tackle."
Ansah hails from Ghana, where few follow American football, and he played soccer growing up. He switched to basketball as he continued to grow, and twice tried to walk onto the BYU basketball team after arriving in the U.S.
It wasn't until that failed, as well as a brief foray into track, that Ansah stumbled into football at the behest of his coach.
He even had to be shown how to put on shoulder pads.
Ansah, of course, eventually found his way into the starting lineup last season for the Cougars and skyrocketed up draft boards due to his unique combination of size, length and speed.
Detroit took him at No. 5 overall.
Ansah has bloomed early, recording 3.5 sacks through five games -- a league high among rookies. He also has forced two fumbles, and forced another two that were nixed by penalties.
But that still doesn't mean he knows a heck of a lot about professional football, including just how good some of those matchups have been. And that ignorance has been bliss.
"Coaches kill a lot of players off by overcoaching them. I'm guilty -- all of us are guilty," Cunningham said. "His best thing is he hasn't been coached for a long time."
Thomas will present a whole new set of challenges, as one of the best tackles in the league. He's rated the NFL's fourth-best left tackle according to Pro Football Focus.
But if history is any indication, Ansah will be up for the challenge.
I did not like the Hayden pick, but how can you not like the way he is playing? He has a lot to learn, but that pick in the last game shoud give him a big boost of confidence. I also did not think he would even be playing right now. There is tough, and then there is football tough.
I liked the pick, and yes CBs do take longer on average to develop the skills to play on this level. To come back like he did says a lot. To play the run the way he as also says a lot. I was afraid he would be reluctant to take a hit.
You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She’s 97 today and we don’t know where the hell she is.

Not bad for his first five games.DJ burn ratio high.To be expected being targeted by Luck,Manning,Rivers & RG3.Will get better with more starts, you can see it in his drive to be the best. With a better pass rush,DJ chances to make plays will increase.
